Seems like the Saitek Profile isn't compatible with the X52 Pro, it looks completely empty and POV controls don't work like expected (Pinkie + any POV does nothing, POV mappings mixed up). Would be nice if you explained what you did so I can recreate it. Free Download Saitek X52 Pro Profile Programs For Mac. Thanks for the answer. In theory I have already installed the latest versions of the software and drivers. I will try to uninstall the software and install it again. I hope to solve by doing so, the assistance logiteck-saitek does not answer me, really bad!!! I have the X 52 Joystick and Throttle that was purchased about eight years ago. Before any programing my joystick has three buttons that work, flaps, change camera, and parking brake. Those are good and want to keep them. I went to the Saiteck site and downloaded the drivers ( also had the disk in ). A pop up told me that it was only compatible with XP, I have Windows 8.
Went through to manually program the other buttons. It doesn't work.
The buttons that are programed are dead in FSX. I even installed the FSX program from their site and it doesn't work. The parking brake that I once had is gone. When I delete the files I get that back. Tried a lot of things to make it work, any ideas? I'm with FSUIPC, but you'll have to register it to get all of the functionality.
Believe me, it's worth it. A friend of mine has gone so far as to reassign his entire keyboard using FSUIPC, and as previously noted, you can assign your X52 (I have the same set-up, running Win 7/64 bit) differently for every aircraft you have.
Just make sure you read the entire manual before attempting to do things. It's not hard to do, but if you do not change things in FSX at the same time, you can have some conflicts that will baffle you to tears. Re the X52 controller - I have the same system and just started playing with the FSUIPC programming after hearing more about how FSUIPC can be used to control everything. And I found 3 new buttons in the process. The Function, Start/Stop, and Reset buttons on the throttle side are available to use for FSX. Normally they control the clock, timers and of course, the reset, but FSUIPC sees them and can program them to flight sim functions.
I also found out that if you have any functions assigned through your Saitek Profile Editor, they will not be available to FSUIPC. So as you have read in the SimSamurai doc, simply stop using the editor, delete any buttons you may already have programmed there, and use FSUIPC instead. I will agree that the top hat should be left alone, as it is a bear to program with FSUIPC. And if you have something like EZCA (and possibly TrackIR), the top hat is where most of your views are set. And like I also posted earlier, I know of at least one other simmer who has programmed his entire keyboard through FSUIPC. Remember that FSUIPC can be programmed for specific aircraft, so you can set up a keyboard layout for every plane you fly. Here's the thread in.
Read the whole thread - he even has all of his aircraft on his desktop as icons, so he can click on what he wants to fly, and everything is loaded up for that flight. He has a sample keyboard template with a picture of the X52 controller with labels for every key and button. Although I won't go as far as he has, I'm definitely going to be using FSUIPC to do more with my X52 system. I have the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke and the X52 Pro - but if I am not mistaken the X52 has the same capability to select six modes as the X52 Pro. I have not done the FSUIPC Conditional Programming for the X52 but I have done it for the Pro Flight Yoke (which has only three modes).
There is a bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it you will have a way to make every button do six different things (or, in the case of the Yoke - three). And, as gpbarth said you can make profiles aircraft specific For example - I have two general settings that I can use either straight as they stand or base a specific aircraft setting on that general profile: 'Prop Aircraft' and 'Jet Aircraft'. As you can imagine there are some distinct differences but to give one example - my center lever on my throttle quadrant controls the prop pitch in prop aircraft but controls the spoilers - including arming them - in jet aircraft. So for a specific Prop or Jet I set whatever I need to that is specific to that aircraft not already covered in the general profile (Prop or Jet), identify the profile as 'Aircraft Specific' then save the is as 'Based on.' And pick the appropriate general profile - prop or jet.
Very handy and saves time identifying the same common functions for each individual aircraft. I also have my keyboard commands running through FSUIPC - I can tune Comm1, Comm2, Nav1, Nav2 (and switch standby and active freqs), ADF and Transponder straight from the keyboard - not fumbling with the mouse trying to aim at the knobs. Same thing for the heading bug and HSI and VOR OBS knobs.
And FSUIPC has codes for things not included in the FSX mapping - I like the gear up separate from the gear down - no toggling and then not knowing if you went up or down - if in doubt you hit the gear up or down button and if already up (or down) nothing happens unlike the 'toggle' mode of FSX. Also have keys for control of lights - including that never-to-be-found-in-FSX taxi light keyboard shortcut. All the information needed is in the FSUIPC Documents folder (in the Modules folder in the main FSX game location). All the patience needed to learn and apply the skill you will have to find yourself but it is well worth the effort.

I finally got it. There's two toggle switches at the top of my X-52. The one in the middle has always been my default for panning the camera. After two whole days of trying to get it to work with every option used known to man, I decided to use the one right at the top and it worked. Why the original didn't work, I don't know and at this point don't really care.
